Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Farnworth Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence must be held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, drivers are required to present valid identification, proof of current address, and acceptable payment information along with a security deposit. Any further conditions stated in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Terms
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Farnworth office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document this. When returning the vehicle, ensure it is in the same condition as when collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling charges will apply for any discrepancies. Late returns could result in extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will also be accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help mitigate your financial responsibility. It is advisable to assess these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms falls under your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes participation in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to third parties or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Farnworth Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
